Queensland's farm-stay country runs along the green edge where the ranges meet the coast. South-west of Brisbane, the Scenic Rim is classic cattle and horse country ringed by the peaks of the Great Dividing Range. North of the city, the Sunshine Coast Hinterland stacks dairy farms and market gardens along an escarpment with views down to the surf. Summer flips the logic: the hinterland's altitude keeps it comfortable when the coast is steamy, and afternoon storms rolling across the paddocks are their own kind of entertainment.
