An hour south-west of Brisbane, the Scenic Rim is exactly what it sounds like: a horseshoe of volcanic peaks — Mount Barney, Mount Maroon, the Main Range and the border ranges toward Lamington — wrapped around a patchwork of cattle country, carrot and onion farms, vineyards and dams. The valleys around Boonah, Kalbar, Beaudesert and Canungra have been grazing and cropping country for 150 years, and the district has lately become Queensland's most exciting food region, with farm-gate trails and a strong crop of cellar doors and distilleries.

There is lovely road riding straight outside the gates, large grass verges, great for a hack out.
