Becoming a Host and Listing an Experience

Learn how to become a host on Farmshare and list your first equestrian experience or service.

Farmshare allows you to list a wide range of horse-related services across Australia and connect with new clients.

As a host, Farmshare helps you manage everything in one place—from being discovered by guests to managing bookings and taking payments.

Getting started as a host

To start hosting, visit the Farmshare website and click List an experience.

If you don’t already have an account, you’ll be prompted to sign up or log in.

Setting up your account

When logging in for the first time, Farmshare will ask for:

  • Your full name (kept private)
  • A display name (shown publicly)

For businesses, using your business name as your display name can help guests recognise you more easily.

Choosing what to offer

After logging in, you’ll be asked to choose the type of experience or service you’d like to offer.

Available categories

Short Stays
Offer horse-friendly accommodation for travelling, events, or holidays.

Trail Riding
List trail riding experiences, whether guests bring their own horse or ride one provided by you.

Riding Lessons
Offer lessons or coaching sessions across different disciplines and skill levels.

Agistment
List agistment options for horses or livestock, suitable for agistment centres or private paddocks.

Other
For services that don’t fit the main categories, such as arena hire, farriers, horse photographers, or pony parties.

Completing your listing

Once you’ve chosen a category, Farmshare will guide you through a series of questions relevant to your experience.

Be sure to:

  • Provide accurate and clear information
  • Highlight what makes your experience unique
  • Upload quality photos where possible

Farmshare automatically saves your progress as you go, so you can return later if needed. You can also edit your listing at any time after publishing.

Common questions about the listing form

Is my address shown publicly?

No. Farmshare only displays the general location of your experience publicly.

The full address is shared only after a guest completes a booking, so they know where to go.

What should I write in the title and description?

Be creative, clear, and honest.

Your title and description are some of the most important parts of your listing. Use them to:

  • Explain what your experience offers
  • Highlight what makes it special
  • Set clear expectations for guests

How do minimum and maximum group sizes work?

Some experiences can be booked by groups.

  • Minimum group size: The smallest group you’re willing to host
  • Maximum group size: The maximum number of people who can book a single time slot

If you want to offer a private experience, set the maximum group size to 1.

What is duration?

For experiences like trail riding or riding lessons, you’ll be asked to set a duration.

Duration determines the length of each booking slot.
For example, if a lesson lasts one hour, set the duration to 60 minutes. Farmshare will automatically create booking slots of that length when you set your availability.

What should I write in host rules?

Host rules are optional, but can be very helpful.

This section is a good place to include:

  • Weight limits for horses
  • Safety requirements
  • House or property rules
  • Any important conditions guests should know before booking

Setting your price

After completing your listing details, you’ll be asked to set a price.

This is the price guests will see and pay when booking your experience.

Platform fees

Farmshare applies a 10% platform fee to bookings.

When setting your price, you’ll see a “You earn” amount that shows how much will be paid to your Stripe account after the platform fee.

You’re free to:

  • Absorb the platform fee, or
  • Adjust your pricing to pass the cost on to guests

Farmshare gives you full flexibility over pricing.

Creating your availability

Once your listing is complete, you’ll set when your experience is available for booking.

You can:

  • Choose which days you’re available
  • Set time ranges
  • Block off dates when needed
  • Update availability at any time

Availability can always be changed later from your dashboard.

Ready to go live?

Once published, your listing will be visible on Farmshare and available for guests to discover and book.

You can continue to edit your listing, pricing, and availability whenever your needs change.
