Step into a piece of Adelaide Hills history – a lovingly restored 1890s barn set on 6 acres of farmland, nestled between Littlehampton and Nairne. Perfectly positioned in a cul-de-sac of similar properties, it is the ideal base for a relaxing Hills holiday. Named after local legend Amos Howard who popularised clover as a nitrogen rich soil enhancer. The Barn was used by Amos to thresh clover seeds, sales of which became a booming business in the early 1900s. Wake to the sound of birdsong and enjoy a lazy morning over a delicious breakfast of fresh produce – breakfast provisions are included for your first day, featuring locally sourced ingredients to get your stay off to a perfect start. The well-equipped, gourmet’s kitchen showcases rustic old tiles imported from a Portuguese monastery and is the perfect spot for cooking up a storm. The Barn contains everything you need to cater for meals at home, from a beautiful freestanding Smeg cooker to your own Breville coffee maker, ensuring barista-quality coffee on tap! Or if you’d rather someone else cater, you are wonderfully situated to enjoy the many local coffee shops and restaurants nearby. We can recommend a few! Where you’ll stay: The Barn is an ideal couple’s retreat, featuring a large master bedroom, with queen bed and dressing room. A cosy second bedroom with twin single beds makes it perfect for families and friends too. For your comfort each room has its own remote-control air-conditioning unit. A modern bathroom includes a rain shower and separate toilet. The Barn’s high ceilings and exposed wooden beams ensure a light filled sanctuary. Enjoy meals and games around the 6-seater circular dining table. Relax and read a book or just soak up the view from one of the comfortable seating areas. The triple-glazed windows frame a stunning view in every direction. You may even spot bunnies, magpies and sulphur-crested cockatoos amongst the wildlife. When the weather permits, enjoy a picnic under the pine tree or take the blanket and picnic basket and set up in the paddock! In winter, keep yourself cosy with a wood fire or toast marshmallows around the outdoor fire-pit. Meet our animals or bring your horse: • Our horse, Sugar, loves her food. You are welcome to join us at feed time. Just ask to be involved. You may even like to enjoy a cheeky wine while watching her dine. • Basil, Olive & Sage, our black nosed Valais sheep are super friendly, cuddly and love attention. If you’d like to feed or pat them, we’d be happy to accommodate you. Just ask when booking. • BYO horse – This listing includes the use of a private paddock with water trough during your stay. You are also welcome to use the arena during your stay, just make sure you clean up afterwards. Other things to note: • We can book our mobile massage therapist, Lea, to come during your stay & knead away the tension while you relax in The Barn.
